News Release – LOS ANGELES, CA – Worldwide, agriculture possesses the distinction of being the single greatest consumer of fresh water, accounting for nearly 70% of available withdrawals each year for irrigation. In the United States alone, 42% of all irrigated water is lost to evaporation.

With water prices, scarcity and quality all threatening the margins and livelihood of farmers, the SEEDSTOCK Ag Water Conference, scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2014, will focus on solutions to the challenges facing sustainable agriculture. The day’s program, to be hosted at Cal Poly Pomona’s Kellogg West Conference Center, will investigate the economic opportunities as well as the environmental and societal benefits of embracing, developing, and investing in sustainable farms, practices, technologies, and start-up companies seeking to utilize water more efficiently.

A broad line-up of panelists and keynote speakers will dissect the water / agriculture problem, address the present complexities and available methods of conserving water, and explore emerging solutions and technologies as they pertain to water conservation, irrigation, waste-water recycling and soil monitoring. Additionally, a special investor session will be dedicated to financing start-ups and implementing water technologies on the farm.
